For
Day-to-Day Personal Task and Mobility Lighting Needs
Beam n Read® Hands-Free Lights are the most useful portable lights for everyday personal tasks. Worn around the neck, they deliver greater versatility than flashlights, headlamps, clip-on lights or lanterns. The wide range of day-to-day uses include: needlework; crafts; reading; caregiving; walking a dog at night; barbequing; tooth fairy detail; working under a sink; and much more. It's the only personal light with snap-on blue light blocking filters so the light won't stimulate you (or others) when relaxing for sleep or needing light during the night.
"Remarkably useful, blessedly simple, and once you have one, you won't want to give it up"
- Tom Bartlett, Slate.com
Beam n Read's design focus is personal task lighting so it delivers a wide, steady light that is bright but not too bright for near field tasks. Comfortable light with longer battery runtime is prioritized. Contrast this with flashlights and headlamps that are designed for directional spot lighting prioritizing brightness with narrow beams for longer distance resulting in shorter battery runtimes.
The light's easy portability is great for students and when traveling or camping. The bright light is helpful for seniors while the hands-free design also makes it practical for those using walkers or wheelchairs. Beam n Read Hands-Free Lights consistently receive acclaim from product reviewers and customers and have stood the test of time from long time users.
Blue light from the LEDs in electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, LED lights, etc.) is stimulating and is keeping people awake at night. Beam n Read uniquely solves this problem with snap-on Relaxation Filters that block blue light giving you control of the light your eyes receive.
The extra long battery runtime keeps the Beam n Read shining long after others personal lights have gone dim. This makes Beam n Read a very useful emergency light during a power outage and results in a lower cost to operate. With the optional USB Power Kit you can plug into USB sockets at home and when traveling to use external power and save the batteries for when portability is needed.
The Beam n Read LED 3 Hands-Free Travel & Reading Light with 3 LEDs in a row for a wide and bright light plus two relaxation filters is perfect for reading, travel, power outages, caregiving, and those with younger eyes. The Beam n Read LED 6 Hands-Free Task Light with 6 LEDs in a row for an extra wide and extra bright light plus two relaxation filters is the most popular model for needlework and those with older eyes. Both are excellent for everyday use.
With a unique combination of features, accessories, versatility, and battery runtime, our patented lights are unmatched by other portable, personal lights. Accessories include clip-on filters for more relaxing light, a USB Power Kit, and clip-on magnifier lenses. Included accessories vary by model.

Remarkably useful, blessedly simple, and once you have one, you won't want
to give it up...
Seriously. I love this thing. Because it hangs around your neck, you don't
have to worry about clipping it onto the book or mess with it when you
turn pages. You can also lay it flat on a table and use it as a kind of
mini-lamp. I've also found myself using the Beam & Read for
nonliterary purposes, such as descending into our poorly lit basement, or
ascending into our equally poorly lit attic. It would be especially handy
in a power outage.

Both Beam N Read LED lights could serve a thousand purposes.
It works great for any type of reading: books, magazines, documents, kindles, nooks, and E-Readers.
But it also works as a flashlight for any occasion and is especially helpful because it's hands free.

The Beam N Read is a sort of "Jack of all trades" light and it does many of them well...
whether it is worn around the neck or stationary on a flat surface, the adjustable head of the
Beam N Read allows the beam to be cast directly on the task being performed.

One thing that this light has that others don't is a set of clip-on filters specifically designed to block blue radiation that can wreak havok on your sleep! The orange filter completely blocks wavelengths shorter (bluer) than 550nm while still maintaining good intensity, and the red filter not only blocks blue wavelengths, but only allows wavelengths greater than approx. 570nm yet still provides enough broadband emission that red text on white paper is still easily readable.

I've had the opportunity to try out this light and peeps, It. Is.
Awesome!!
Of course I've used the Beam and Read for my knitting, but also
reading late at night and early morning. Then, just the other night, I
grabbed it and took it out to the chicken coop when I heard some commotion
out there. My knitting kit includes the Denise cloth knitting needle case,
which also has room for extra scissors, a tape measure, stitch and row
markers, extra dpns, row counters, even a crochet hook. And now...
this Beam and Read light lives there too, part of my permanent collection
(and safely hidden away from hubby, who has already asked if he can have his
own!).

An item you weren't sure you needed quickly becomes indispensable
Superior to book lights or headlamps
So useful is this little light, it should also be called Beam N Craft, Beam N Stitch,
Beam N Camp, Beam N Check-on-Baby, even Beam N Do-Latenight-Housework, as I did late
one night when the urge to sort laundry in our bedroom came over me as my husband and
kids drifted off to sleep. The manufacturers explain, "For Light Anywhere, Anytime That
Won't Disturb Others." Exactly!...
...I've used lightweight LED headlamps when camping to read and work, but the Beam N read
is vastly more comfortable. With the Beam N Read, the light is aimed down at the floor when
you get up from your work to stretch or get a snack...
...I really love the basic Beam N Read. Since I received it, I use it all the time for my late
night bouts of creativity. My sleeping husband is so grateful!

I don't know what I did before I had my Beam N Read 6 LED Light The Beam N Read Lights are perfect for all hand needle work, sewing, reading, taking evening walks, and camping. I use mine while we travel too.

I've spent the past month working this light - in the evenings sitting on the couch and knitting away at Christmas gifts, in the van on our recent adventures to SC/NC, in bed while reading the Kindle. The light is powerful... The lamp sits in the right spot for me and adjusts to work for my dh, too... This model comes with two filters - a red one for using in the car at night to avoid blinding the driver and a yellow one that diffuses the LED glow a bit to warm the light (which works wonderfully when reading the Kindle at night in bed)... One thing I REALLY like about this light... it takes four AA batteries... This means I don't have to try and track down specialized batteries... which are hard to find and expensive when you do! The light is still going strong on the originally-loaded AA's after more than a month of use... Not once did the lamp get heavy or uncomfortable. I could adjust from three LEDs (during the non-critical knitting sections) but if I had a problem, I could ramp up the light to the six. I used the magnifier a couple of times when I found I'd dropped a stitch and needed to remedy the situation immediately... The new light is a must-have for knitters or needleworkers, for those who enjoy reading in bed, or just about anyone else who needs a task-light. At less than $30, this would make a great Christmas gift under the tree or in the stocking... I highly recommend this product!

I think the Beam N Read is an excellent little portable light, perfect for those situations when you don't want a larger overhead light
on that will bother others, perfect for travel, for classroom use, and for myriad other uses that I'm sure you can come up with, too!

The light of course can be used for more than outdoor cooking. Do you enjoy reading but don't always have enough light. This is perfect. Need to work under the hood of your car but don't have enough light. Again, this is great. Maybe you need to work under the sink or behind an appliance where we all know lighting is at a minimum. You got it, perfect for that. It's even good for sneaking a peek at the baby during the night without waking him/her up or a private trip for a midnight snack you don't want to share. After having worked in a hospital and being a patient I can even see this coming in handy for making rounds, checking patients and IV's on the midnight shift without startling the patient awake without having to turn on the huge, bright overhead light. An added bonus of the 6 LED light was the magnifier. This was treat for threading that needle or reading fine print.

Overall, I liked the Beam 'n' Read lights. The flexibility to lay them on a
table or flat surface and have a wide beam of light made them especially useful.
If you need a versatile booklight/flashlight,
though, you really can't go wrong with one of these, as they offer
flexibility in a small package.

The Bottom Line: For hands-free night walking, reading, and other tasks,
this hands-free LED light is a great solution.
I really enjoyed using the Beam N Read for reading in bed or reading maps
when out walking at night. It has a larger coverage area than most clip-on
booklights, without having to clip it to what you are reading. And once I
had the Beam N Read for reading, I enjoyed having it around my neck for
trips to the bathroom, to the kitchen for a drink of water, etc.

We live in the Mojave Desert and I like to go walking at night. This hands free light was the perfect solution to my problem as we have areas that I walk that don't have lights and we have coyotes and bobcats that roam the base at night so I needed some illumination. My hubby also likes that oncoming cars can see me when I'm wearing mine and the light wont blind them as they pass me. I feel alot safer on my walks now.

I ... was surprised at the number of uses I found for it; from sewing buttons back onto my clothes (I have a huge pile of repairs,) to reading books in bed (I used the clip-on orange filter for a softer light) while The Mr tries to sleep, and using it as a flashlight to dig around in a deep cabinet. It's become a handy little tool - so handy I can't decide whether to keep it in the toolbox, my sewing cabinet or the glove compartment!Pretty Polished Perfect .com
The Beam N Read LED 6 Deluxe Hands Free Light wasn't necessarily created so that you could have a light to walk your dog late at night it just happens to be a great solution... Your hands are free to control the leashes, pick up poop, or whatever else you might need to deal with. You can check for frogs or snakes and no matter what color your winter jacket is any car will be able to see you.

The other night I went to curl up with my book again but I couldn't find my [Beam N Read] light. I went into the garage to ask my husband, who was putting washer fluid in my car, where my light was. Low and behold this man had my light around his neck using it to see where to put the washer fluid. Sneaky man I tell ya. ABigBitofEverything.com
I was overall impressed with the Beam N Read. It is definitely a must have light for every household, so practical for some many different purposes (emergency kit, craft light, night time reading light, etc). Belinda, The Ordinary Aunt .com
When I first received the light to review, I really didn't think I'd like it. I thought I might give it to my mom to use. But, after reviewing it, I found that it is a very useful tool for myself. It has helped me in doing my devotions late at night while sitting in bed next to my slumbering husband without disturbing him. Therefore, it has been a great blessing to me in spite my skepticism! TJ, Measuring Flower.com
Since I don't care for the way clip-on reading lights change the balance of an ereader, I thought it would be interesting to see how well the Beam N Read lights work... I found that both units work as advertised... The LEDs are bright and provide a wider, more even light than clip-ons. They also come in handy for a number of other uses like needlework, crafts, and camping...
I found the build quality to be quite durable. Shortly after receiving them, I accidentally dropped the unit with 6 lights from about 4 feet onto the concrete floor. It landed with a crash. Batteries went flying everywhere. I cursed that I hadn't even had a chance to try it out yet. But I rounded up the batteries and stuck them back in and it still works...
Overall, I found the Beam N Read lights work well enough to feel comfortable recommending them. Both are pretty lightweight—basically just the weight of the batteries—and sit comfortably on your chest. Once you start reading you forget that it's there. Nathan, Editor/Publisher,
